PVPC is composed of representatives from each of its 43 member communities. Each community is represented by two delegates: a commissioner, generally a member of the municipal planning board, and an alternate commissioner appointed by the city or town's chief elected official. The full commission meets four to six times per year.
Commissioners and alternates attend regularly scheduled PVPC meetings; communicate back to their municipalities information about PVPC services, initiatives, and advocacy; and act as liaisons between their communities and PVPC for local technical assistance, information, and other pertinent matters.
In addition, the full Commission annually elects a nine-member Executive Committee, which generally meets on a monthly basis to take action on budget items, to authorize expenditures, and to review personnel issues.
