Local technical assistance is provided to member communities on an as-requested basis. All requests must be in writing and must come from the chief local elected official. Communities are limited to three requests per calendar year.
Studies under this program are intended to be small in scale. As a result, communities with professional staff are limited to two days of PVPC staff time, while communities without professional staff are limited to no more than three days of PVPC staff time. Typical transportation LTA requests include data collection, traffic signal warrant analysis, traffic signal operation improvements, safety studies, trip generation estimates, truck exclusion studies, and reviews of all documents submitted under the regulations of the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA).
