Live Northampton Concert to Support Climate Change Awareness

The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission and Northampton Mayor Clare Higgins will sponsor a special concert Saturday, July 7, 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Pulaski Park in Northampton to be held simultaneously with the Live Earth Concert series.

The Live Northampton concert will feature Drew Hickum and the Ministry of Folk, the Raging Grannies, Whiskey Ina, Adam Sweeney, Shakuhachi flutist Robert Jonas, Marty Helly, and Jen Tobey, winner of the 2007 WRSI songwriter contest. The event is free.

Like the 24-hour-long, seven-continent Live Earth Concert series on the same day, the Northampton event will use music to spread awareness of the need to take action on global climate change issues.

For more information, contact Andrew Smith, Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, at 1 (413) 781-6045 or Karen Bellavance-Grace, Northampton Mayor’s office, at (413) 587-1249.
