PVPC Housing Plan, Staff Planner Honored by MA Chapter of American
The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission was selected to receive a Comprehensive Planning Award by the American Planning Association—Massachusetts Chapter (APA-MA), and the plan’s primary author, Jayne Bernhard-Armington, has received the organization’s Young Planner Award. The awards were presented at the 2013 APA-MA/Massachusetts Association of Planning Directors (MAPD) Annual Awards Friday, December 13 at the Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge.
The Pioneer Valley Regional Housing Plan was recognized in the Comprehensive Planning Award’s Regional category. An array of regional planning and housing experts and PVPC staff contributed to this report, which was released in November 2013. This award was created to honor a plan, program, or process of unusually high merit.
PVPC Senior Planner Jayne Bernhard-Armington (AICP) received this year’s Young Planner Award, which recognizes a junior or mid-level young practicing planner who has excelled in leadership, increased the impact of planning in public and private decision-making, or enhanced the APA-MA Chapter. Ms. Bernhard-Armington, who specializes in housing and land use planning, has been with PVPC since 2008.
APA-MA’s awards program, the state’s highest honor for planning professionals, was established to recognize outstanding comprehensive plans, planning programs and initiatives, public education efforts, and individuals for their leadership on planning issues.
