New Regional Housing Plan to be Discussed at November 13 Forum
All members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend the Pioneer Valley Housing Forum Wednesday, November 13 at the MassMutual Learning and Conference Center, 350 Memorial Drive in Chicopee. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m., with registration and breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m.
This event celebrates the completion of the Pioneer Valley’s new Regional Housing Plan and offers a forum for discussing how the region can implement its recommendations. Undersecretary Aaron Gornstein of the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development will deliver the keynote address. The forum will bring together municipal and state officials, as well as leaders from the non-profit and business communities who seek to address our region’s housing challenges and opportunities. Focused sessions will be offered on addressing weak housing market forces, overcoming housing development challenges, and ensuring equal and fair access to housing.
The Regional Housing Plan identifies opportunities related to housing market stability, housing affordability, and fair access to housing in the Pioneer Valley in order to create a region in which all residents are able to choose housing that is affordable and appropriate to their needs. This plan was guided by a 23-member advisory committee of community and regional leaders and was drafted by the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission. It was funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Sustainable Communities Initiative Regional Planning Grant Program.
