Williamsburg Open Space and Recreation Plan Public Meeting Schedule

The Town of Williamsburg is seeking public comment to identify town goals for open space and recreation. All residents are invited to a public visioning meeting Tuesday, September 28, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Williamsburg Town Offices, 141 Main St. in Haydenville.

This planning effort is being undertaken to develop an updated Williamsburg Open Space and Recreation Plan. Public comment is critically important to developing a plan that meets the needs of Williamsburg’s residents. According to Denise Banister, Chair of the Board of Selectmen, “The Board of Selectmen was fortunate to have had a great group of volunteers step forward to join this committee. Now is the time for residents to step forward and state their views and opinions. We look forward to this important final document that will help guide our open space and recreational efforts over the next seven years.”

All residents, whether or not they attend the meeting, are asked to complete a questionnaire to identify open spaces and recreational activities important to them. The questionnaire is available through September 28 at Meekins Library, Haydenville Library, and the Town Clerk’s office, and can be returned at the same locations. Residents can also complete the questionnaire online at www.burgy.org.

The plan is being developed by the Williamsburg Open Space and Recreation Update Committee with assistance from the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission. Funding is provided by a District Local Technical Assistance Grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
